Under that you'll see a series of adapters, split up into "Access type" and "Connections". Once you're in the Network and Sharing Center you'll see a section in the right-middle part of the window called "Connect or disconnect". In Windows 8 you'll have to slide in the Charm bar and open the Search function. In Windows Vista and 7 you can do this by clicking the Start button and typing that into the search bar, then clicking the result. We want those broadcasts to instead be received by the virtual TeamViewer VPN adapter, so we have to make a quick change to the Metric setting.įirst, open the Network and Sharing Center. The main gist here is that Borderlands broadcasts UDP packets, and by default your main Windows LAN adapter is set to receive these broadcasts. I've found these changes to be totally safe, but there are other things that could be clicked, checked or removed that might cause you problems.
Third, we will be making some minor changes to your network adapters. You'll most likely be downloading version 9, but it should all look pretty much the same. Next, I'm basing all this on TeamViewer version 8, because I haven't upgraded to version 9, yet. But if you keep it to your core group of friends - like, say, Borderlands buddies - then you'll be fine. The exact number is a little fuzzy, but at some point TeamViewer is going to tell you you're connecting to too many different computers and it will stop working properly.
Also, you don't get to connect to unlimited computers for free. TeamViewer is free for personal use only - if you like it and want to use it for business purposes you'll need to buy a license. Ok, first let's get a few things out of the way:
